Consultation has concluded

The Berry Springs Water Allocation Plan 2016-2026 applies to an area of 105km2 within the Darwin Rural Water Control District.

The Plan describes the water management arrangements for Berry Springs Dolostone Aquifer.

The 5 objectives of the Plan are:

  1. Maintain sustainable water supplies for consumptive and environmental uses.
  2. Improve management of the aquifer
  3. Protect the environment
  4. Support Aboriginal culture and communities
  5. Ensure regional economic development is sustainable.

The department is seeking public feedback for the midterm review of the plan.

The review will establish whether the plan is delivering what it set out to do and is meeting its functions under the Water Act. It will also provide an update on the state of the resource, current and projected future water use, any new science and changes in policy, regulation, and socio-economic planning since the plan was declared.

The Berry Springs Water Advisory Council will review the plan and your responses, with the updated plan re-declared in early 2023.
